Our industry needs your help!
Urgent action is required regarding mandatory recyclability labelling - responses needed by Friday 23 August.
OPRL, WRAP and DEFRA are currently consulting on mandatory recyclability labelling on packaging, and it is vital we get your input as currently some cartons products could be labelled as not being recyclable (Metpol/more than 5% plastic content etc.).
To help, we need as many companies as possible to click the link below and fill in the 11 page questionnaire, which should roughly take 10-15 mins to complete.

Pages 1 - 6 - are requests for general information
Page 7 - relates to costs and I would suggest that you make the point that artwork is mostly supplied by customers, so carton converters have no input into the content of what we print. Costs will depend on if the recyclability label is produced out of the existing colours, and if new plates etc. are required
Page 8 - again relates to costs, I would mention the costs of amending artwork etc.
Page 9 - in terms of timescales I would suggest that no changes are made until 2023 at the earliest when the changes to Household Collections are due to be made
Page 10 - here we need to stress that there must be input from the whole supply chain (not just the recycling industry) as to what products are recyclable. As carton converters we would stress that all fibre based packaging is recyclable as fibres can be recovered from all cartons regardless of how much plastic they contain
Page 11 - re-iterate the recovery of fibres from cartons means that all folding cartons are recyclable
